VILLEURBANNE — LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has been hit with a player registration ban after failing to clear a €300,000 debt owed to former center Joffrey Lauvergne, triggering a new case at the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal and freezing the club's ability to sign new players.

According to Eurohoops sources, the French club still owes the full €300,000 to Lauvergne, now a 35-year-old center with Partizan Mozzart Bet. The sanctions were triggered after ASVEL failed to honor two consecutive installments from a previous payment arrangement reached with the former player.

Consequently, Lauvergne is taking the club back to the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal. The action effectively blocks LDLC ASVEL from making any new roster additions until the outstanding debt is settled, leaving the EuroLeague side unable to reinforce its squad.

The ban adds immediate financial and sporting pressure on Villeurbanne early in the season, with roster movement on hold while the BAT process plays out.
