VILLEURBANNE — Chris Jones sank a stunning mid-range jumper at the buzzer as Crvena zvezda Meridianbet snatched a dramatic 84-82 road victory over ASVEL in Villeurbanne, extending their EuroLeague winning streak to three games.
ASVEL had led for most of the contest, but Zvezda held firm when it mattered most. After a crucial defensive stop on the final possession, the Belgrade side pushed in transition and Jones took responsibility, pulling up to hit the decisive mid-range effort just before the buzzer sounded to seal the win.
Chima Moneke led Zvezda with 18 points, while Jordan Nwora added 17 and Semi Ojeleye contributed 15 in a balanced offensive display. Jones, however, stole the spotlight with the late winner that sent the visiting fans into celebration.
The result secures a third consecutive EuroLeague victory for Crvena zvezda, who showed resilience to overturn ASVEL's long spell in front on the road. For ASVEL, it was a frustrating finish after controlling large parts of the match in front of their home crowd.
