CERNOBBIO — Euroleague Basketball shareholders have officially rejected an investment proposal from the NBA, with further decisions regarding new EuroLeague franchises remaining pending. The Assembly of Syndicate Shareholders of Euroleague Commercial Assets gathered at Lake Como on Tuesday to vote on the league's future structure, though a collaboration between the NBA and EuroLeague Basketball is not yet out of the question.

As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport and confirmed by Eurohoops sources, the NBA required Euroleague Basketball to freeze its current setup and halt its independent growth plans as a condition of the proposal. Shareholders voted against those terms at the Lake Como assembly, opting to preserve the league's autonomous expansion strategy.

The vote leaves the question of new EuroLeague franchises unresolved for now. No new entrants were confirmed at the assembly, and the league have not finalised their plans for future growth following the rejection.

The door to cooperation remains open despite the setback. The assembly follows EuroLeague owners' planned meeting in Cernobbio on the NBA offer and expansion, with both organisations continuing to explore potential avenues for collaboration while EuroLeague Basketball maintains control of its own structure.
