VITORIA — Markus Howard has left Baskonia after four full seasons in Vitoria to join Zenit Saint Petersburg, with both clubs confirming the move. The guard has signed a contract with Zenit until the summer of 2028, as confirmed by the VTB League, ending his long spell with the EuroLeague side.
Baskonia confirmed the departure on social media with an emotional farewell to the shooter, stating: “The name of Markus Howard is now written forever in the history books of this club, which will always remember him with affection and wishes him the very best of luck in his personal and professional future.”
Howard spent four full seasons with Baskonia and developed into one of Europe’s most prolific scorers. In the 2023/24 season he led the EuroLeague with an average of 19.5 points, was the top scorer in the ACB league twice, and helped Baskonia win the Copa del Rey in 2026.
Zenit have now secured his signature on a deal running until the summer of 2028. The switch takes Howard to Saint Petersburg after a defining period in Vitoria, where Baskonia have underlined his lasting place in the club’s history.
