PIRAEUS — Olympiacos have officially signed NBA veteran John Konchar on a two-year deal, as the club confirmed on Wednesday, while Tyler Dorsey will be absent from the squad for one month for disciplinary reasons following comments on social media.

Standing at 1.96 metres, the 30-year-old Konchar brings a team-first mentality and traces heritage to Czechia, Hungary and Serbia. Although he went undrafted in 2019, the former Purdue standout built a solid NBA career with 381 appearances over nearly seven seasons, spending most of his time as a reliable role player for the Memphis Grizzlies before a brief stint with the Utah Jazz.

Dorsey had already missed one game after commenting on a social media post about his role with the team. The club have now extended that absence to a month, and it remains unclear whether he will return to the squad at the end of that period following the addition of Konchar.

Konchar is now the 10th foreign player on Olympiacos' roster. While there are no restrictions on player nationality in the EuroLeague, Greek league regulations permit only eight non-Greek players to be registered and only six to be used on game day. Dorsey, who is Greek-American, won a bronze medal with the Greek national team at the recent EuroBasket and is considered a local player in the domestic competition.
