VALENCIA — Olympiacos tied the biggest comeback in EuroLeague history as the EuroLeague champions overturned a 28-point deficit to beat Valencia 102-97 after overtime on the road in the fifth round.

Xavier Albert’s Valencia led 62-34 at the start of the third quarter and appeared in complete control, but they fell victim to their own fast pace as the visitors chipped away minute by minute. Despite losing Georgios Bartzokas, Olympiacos kept reducing the arrears and, 17 minutes after trailing 62-34, took the lead at 88-86 through points from Mbaye Ndiaye before drama and overtime delivered a remarkable victory.

The Greek side’s recovery from 28 points down matches the competition record set by Poland’s Prokom in the 2012/13 season, when Prokom trailed Montepaschi Siena by 28 points at home but still secured victory. No team had triumphed from 28 points behind since that night until Olympiacos in Valencia.

The result leaves Olympiacos with four wins from five rounds, with Valencia holding the same record. The comeback follows Olympiacos' emphatic 89-66 win over Efes and underlines the champions’ resilience on the road.
