MUNICH — Virtus Bologna continued their recovery in the EuroLeague with a 94-87 victory over FC Bayern Munich on Thursday at SAP Garden, securing their first road win of the 2026-27 campaign and improving to 2-2. The Italian side held off a late push from Bayern, who slipped to 1-3 after a third straight defeat.

Virtus established control early with 35 points in the first quarter. Wendell Moore and Bo Klintman each scored seven points during a 2-18 run that put the visitors ahead 9-20, and Virtus made six three-pointers in the opening period to take a 21-35 lead into the second quarter. Bayern responded with a 12-3 surge to cut the deficit to 33-38, but Virtus maintained their offensive production to lead 43-52 at half-time, shooting 57.6% on two-point attempts and converting 23 of 28 free throws to offset a 35.5% mark from three-point range.

The German side continued to fight after the break, cutting the gap to three points before Virtus rebuilt a 12-point lead at 52-64. The visitors entered the fourth quarter ahead 68-75 but remained under pressure as the match approached its final two minutes. Marcus Carr then delivered in the decisive moments, and after hitting the game-winner against Olympiacos Piraeus the previous week, the guard knocked down a three-pointer, scored on a jumper in the lane and converted two free throws during the final 74 seconds to secure the result. Carr finished with 13 points, while Moore led all scorers with 20 and Klintman added 15 off the bench.

Bayern were left to rue their slow start despite a strong individual display. Oscar da Silva and Duane Washington scored 18 points apiece, while Marjon Beauchamp added 15, but the hosts have now lost three consecutive matches, including two at home. Virtus visit Paris Basketball next Wednesday, while Bayern travel to Anadolu Efes on the same day.
