CARDIFF — The undercard for the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is beginning to take shape, with promoter Eddie Hearn identifying potential matchups for the 11 December event at the Principality Stadium. With the main event now confirmed, organisers are looking to bolster the bill with high-profile names to ensure global appeal.
Hearn, who has represented Joshua since 2013, recently suggested a potential heavyweight contest between former unified champion Andy Ruiz Jr. and Doncaster’s Dave Allen. Speaking to IFL TV, Hearn noted that the bout would be straightforward to arrange, stating: “What about Andy Ruiz against Dave Allen? Why not? [We could make that] easy.”
Ruiz Jr. famously defeated Joshua in 2019, securing a stoppage victory inside seven rounds before losing the subsequent rematch by unanimous decision. Having signed with Hearn earlier this year, the Mexican-American is currently looking to rebound following a defeat to Damien Knyba. Meanwhile, Allen is reportedly seeking one final major fight before announcing his retirement.
Beyond the potential inclusion of Ruiz Jr., organisers are exploring other options to strengthen the card. Reports indicate that discussions have taken place regarding the possibility of Manny Pacquiao appearing in the co-main event, with further updates expected in the coming weeks. The event, backed by Turki Alalshikh and Netflix, remains free from title politics or mandatory obligations.
