LAS VEGAS — Brandon Figueroa has withdrawn from his scheduled featherweight contest against Tomoki Kameda after falling ill following Friday's weigh-in. The bout, which was set to take place in Las Vegas, has been officially cancelled.
Figueroa had already faced significant complications ahead of the match. During the weigh-in, he registered 127.4lbs, exceeding the 126lb limit. Despite being granted an additional hour to make the required weight, he failed to do so, resulting in him being stripped of his WBA featherweight title. The contest was initially expected to proceed with the title only available to Kameda.
Following the weigh-in, an official confirmed to BoxingScene that Figueroa had fallen 'very ill', necessitating the cancellation of the evening's main event.
