CHICAGO — Floyd Schofield has signaled his willingness to offer Gervonta Davis an immediate world title challenge should he emerge victorious in his upcoming bout. Schofield is scheduled to face Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight crown at the Wintrust Arena on Saturday, October 10.

Davis, 31, was previously the WBA lightweight champion but was stripped of the title following a period of inactivity that dates back to March 2025. The Baltimore fighter has since been designated as the WBA’s ‘champion-in-recess’ in the 135lb division. Ahead of his own championship opportunity, the 24-year-old Schofield expressed his desire to test himself against the former titleholder.

“If Tank did want to come back and was like, ‘I want that fight and I want that belt back,’ I have no problem with it because he is the so-called boogeyman,” Schofield told Fight Hub TV. “If you get Tank on your record, if you beat Tank, then there is not a lot that people can say.”

The October 10 card at the Wintrust Arena also features a co-main event where Ricardo Sandoval will defend his unified WBC and WBA flyweight world titles against Sergio Mendoza Cordova. Schofield noted that his long-term ambitions include unifying the 135lb division before potentially moving up to 140lbs.
