PHILADELPHIA — Unified junior-middleweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis has signed a multi-fight extension with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing, a deal expected to cover his bid for undisputed supremacy at 154lbs and perhaps a third-division title at middleweight. The unbeaten Philadelphian, 36-0 (32 KOs), is coming off a seventh-round stoppage of Xander Zayas in June to capture the WBA and WBO titles.

The 5-foot-10 Ennis, 29, has been with Matchroom since 2024 after becoming a unified champion at 147lbs and is now a two-division champion. He is believed to be far along in talks with Matchroom’s newly extended IBF 154lbs champion Josh Kelly of England for an early 2027 unification, while he and WBC champion Sebastian Fundora have expressed mutual interest in an undisputed bout afterwards, with unbeaten rival Vergil Ortiz Jnr also in the picture at middleweight.

“I’m excited for my extended partnership with Matchroom,” Ennis said in a news release. “Together, we have aligned ourselves in all the right positions to get what I want, and that’s undisputed. The world is about to see why I’m different and why I’m the best fighter in the world. These guys aren’t on my level. They can’t do what I do. Road to undisputed, road to the number one pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.”

“I am delighted that Jaron has signed a new deal with us,” Hearn said in the release. “It’s an honour that this pound-for-pound star continues to trust us with his career, and the whole team intends to repay that faith by delivering what he wants; unification and undisputed fights and the biggest names and nights in the sport.”
