BAYAMON — Litzy Vazquez and Stephanie Pineiro will meet for the unified WBC and WBA junior welterweight world championships on Saturday, December 5, at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, for titles vacated by the recent retirement of Katie Taylor.

Veracruz, Mexico's Vazquez, 9-0 (6 KOs), enters as the WBA Interim world female junior-welterweight champion after capturing the interim title with a majority 10-round decision over Edith Soledad Matthysse in July 2026. At 24, she is 12 years younger than Pineiro and will face the hometown favorite on the road.

Pineiro, 10-1 (3 KOs), of Puerto Rico is ranked WBA No. 1 and WBC No. 2 at 140 pounds. The 5-foot-9 southpaw has campaigned at welterweight for nearly four years and stands three inches taller than Vazquez. She won an interim version of the WBA welterweight title in September of last year by stopping Marie Pier Houle in the second round. The bout will air live on Wynn Records Network at 8 p.m. ET.

The titles became vacant after Irish superstar Taylor vacated all four of her world titles when she retired in September following a farewell event in front of 80,000 fans at Dublin's Croke Park. The event is promoted by Salita Promotions and Universal Promotions, in association with Wynn Records.
