MONTREAL — AG Insurance-Soudal confirmed on Tuesday that Kim Le Court-Pienaar has ended her 2026 season prematurely due to a muscular injury sustained during the World Championships road race. The Mauritian rider was involved in a crash during the event in Montreal, where she ultimately finished in 45th place.
Subsequent medical examinations revealed a small tear in her quadriceps. In a statement, the team noted that after consultation with the rider and medical staff, the decision was made to prioritize her recovery, effectively ruling her out of the upcoming Italian Classics, including the Giro dell'Emilia and Tre Valle Varesine.
Le Court-Pienaar concludes her campaign as the team's leading points-scorer, having secured victories at the Tour of Britain Women and a stage win at the Tour de France Femmes earlier this summer. With climbers Urška Žigart and Justine Ghekiere also sidelined, AG Insurance-Soudal will look to Lore De Schepper and Sarah Gigante to lead their efforts in Italy.
The rider now shifts her focus toward the 2027 season. Her absence from the final races of the year follows a challenging spring that included a heavy crash at the Tour of Flanders, a season marked by both high-level success and significant injury setbacks.
