SEPANG — 2025 Formula 1 champion Lando Norris has firmly ruled out extending his motorsport career into his 40s, stating he has no desire to follow in the footsteps of Fernando Alonso. Norris drew a clear line on longevity, rejecting the idea of racing deep into a fifth decade even as Alonso commits to more seasons at the front of the grid.

Alonso confirmed that he would continue with Aston Martin in 2027 in the days leading up to the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, which is being held in Malaysia. The contract extension will keep the Spaniard in the series at Aston Martin into 2027, ensuring his presence on the grid beyond next season and extending one of the sport's longest careers.

Norris addressed the contrast directly ahead of the weekend in Malaysia, making clear he does not plan to emulate Alonso's path. As the reigning 2025 champion, his firm stance sets a different career horizon with no intention to race into his 40s. The two trajectories will be on display as the paddock convenes in Malaysia for the relocated Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, a one-off arrangement that has brought the field to Sepang as F1 returns to Sepang for one-off Bahrain Grand Prix hosting this season.
