LONDON — Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been named England women's player of the year after a standout 2025-26 campaign. The 27-year-old, who also won the fan-voted award two seasons ago, pipped Chelsea pair Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton to this season's honour.

Russo, who has scored 31 goals in 68 games for England, has been a key figure for the Lionesses this season, featuring in all 10 matches and scoring five goals. Last week she netted the third goal as England beat Greece 3-1 in the first leg of their 2027 World Cup play-off semi-final.

"To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans. I am so grateful for their support," said Russo. "A big thank you also to my team-mates - it is always about the collective."

England host Greece in the second leg at Leicester's King Power Stadium on Tuesday as they look to secure their place in the World Cup play-off final.
