HELSINKI — Former Norwich City and Finland striker Teemu Pukki has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36, closing a career that made him Finland's men's all-time top scorer and a Norwich City great. Pukki, who quit international duty last year, scored 43 goals in 133 matches for Finland — the second-highest cap total in the country's history — and ranks fourth on Norwich's all-time goalscoring list with 88 goals in 210 appearances between 2018 and 2023, helping the Canaries twice win promotion to the Premier League.

"I've gained a lot more from football than I ever dreamed of when I was a little boy," Pukki wrote on Instagram. "I've seen the world and gained experience because of football and I don't think I could have gotten anything like football anywhere else. It hasn't always been fun or I haven't been able to enjoy it, but the love for football has remained - always. Big thanks to the great clubs and their fans."

Pukki has played for HJK Helsinki in his homeland since 2025 and will retire following the conclusion of the Veikkausliiga season on 8 November. He also counts Schalke, Brondby and Minnesota United among his former clubs, while he scored nine goals in 38 appearances for Celtic between 2013 and 2015.

The unassuming Finn arrived at Carrow Road on a free transfer in the summer of 2018 to little fanfare after his previous spell in British football with Celtic. With Emi Buendia teeing him up, he cemented himself as an all-time Norwich great, winning two Championship titles and two player of the season awards. That partnership with Buendia was described as "magical" by head coach Daniel Farke, and Norwich have long celebrated the striker with the famous 'Pukki Party' chant in Norfolk.
