QUEBEC CITY — The Memorial Cup is returning to Quebec City in 2028 after the Canadian Hockey League selected the Quebec Remparts to host the national junior hockey championship. The tournament will be staged at the 18,000-seat Vidéotron Centre, bringing the CHL's showpiece event back to the city for the first time since 2015.
The Remparts beat out Moncton in a bidding process to secure hosting rights and bring the four-team championship back to the provincial capital. Quebec City last staged the tournament in 2015 at the Pepsi Coliseum, and the move to the Vidéotron Centre marks a new venue for the event's return.
It will be the fourth Memorial Cup hosted by Quebec City since the round-robin format was introduced in 1972. The four-team tournament will feature the host Remparts alongside the playoff champions of the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League and the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, with the three league winners joining the host club to contest the national junior title.
The 2027 Memorial Cup will be held in Guelph, Ont., from 20-30 May, while dates for the 2028 tournament in Quebec City have yet to be announced. The CHL confirmed the future host cities as preparations continue for the next two editions of the championship.
