COLORADO SPRINGS — John Wroblewski will remain as head coach of the United States women's national team through the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps after agreeing a contract extension with USA Hockey, the governing body announced on Friday. The deal secures the coach who has been behind the bench since 2022 and led the Americans to gold at the Milan Cortina Olympics in February.
USA Hockey confirmed Wroblewski will now lead the programme through the next Olympic quad, with the World Championship in Denmark in November his next tournament. "John has done a terrific job over the last four years, and there’s no question our program has benefitted from his experience, leadership and passion," USA Hockey women's national team senior director Katie Million said in a statement. "We’re excited he’ll be with us for the next quad and look forward to building on the momentum that was established by winning gold in Milan."
The Neenah, Wisconsin, native brought extensive development pedigree to the women's programme. He previously coached on the men's side at USA Hockey's National Team Development Program from 2016-20 before a two-season spell with the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign from 2020-22.
USA Hockey have moved swiftly to ensure continuity after the triumph in Milan, with Wroblewski now set to oversee the coming world championships and the long build towards the 2030 Games as the Americans look to build on their Olympic momentum.
