EDMONTON — The UFC returned to Edmonton for the first time since November 2024 on Saturday with a 13-fight card that delivered finishes in all but one bout, a feat that tied UFC Serbia for the most finishes on a UFC card in modern history. Ranked defeats for Joaquin Buckley and Erin Blanchfield headlined a difficult night for losers that also included a pair of Kyles, a promotional debutant and a fighter clinging to his roster spot.
Mike Malott delighted the Canadian crowd in the main event as he flatlined No.8-ranked Joaquin Buckley with a picture-perfect knee to the head, a result covered in Malott's second-round KO of Buckley. Buckley is now 11-7 with the promotion and has lost his last three, to Kamaru Usman, Sean Brady and Malott, after previously riding a six-fight win streak. His next bout should come against the loser of Kevin Holland versus Uros Medic, scheduled for 14 November, ideal timing given Buckley will need extra recovery. If Medic loses he would fall to 8-4 with the UFC and see a four-fight win streak snapped, having stopped his last four opponents in the first round against Gilbert Urbina, Muslim Salikhov, Geoff Neal and Daniel Rodriguez. If Holland loses he would be 16-13, 1 NC with the UFC and have lost three of his last four, including an October 2025 unanimous decision defeat to Malott, and the pairing would be a rematch of their 2020 meeting which Holland finished early in the final round.
In the co-main event, No.6 Jasmine Jasudavicius secured a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over No.3 Erin Blanchfield. The upset snapped a two-fight win streak for Blanchfield over Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez and leaves her 8-2 with the UFC since being signed in 2021, with her only other loss coming against Manon Fiorot in early 2024. Blanchfield's next fight should be against No.8 Wang Cong, a grappler-versus-striker matchup suited to the main card of a numbered event. Cong just fought at UFC 332 earlier this month where she lost a unanimous decision to Natalia Silva for the vacant UFC women's flyweight belt after riding a four-fight win streak. She has gone 5-2 since being signed in mid-2024, with her other loss to Gabriella Fernandes in November 2024, the first defeat of her professional career.
Cristian Perez needed less than 30 seconds to flatten hometown fighter Kyle Nelson. Nelson falls to 5-7-1 in the UFC since joining in 2018 and has lost three of his last four, all in the first round to Steve Garcia, Terrance McKinney and now Perez. His next bout should be against Matheus Camilo, who is 2-2 with the UFC and had a two-fight win streak snapped by Jai Herbert earlier this month; Herbert also defeated Nelson by unanimous decision back in 2022. On the main card, Marc-Andre Barriault got back into the win column with a late first-round finish of Kyle Daukaus. Daukaus is now 4-6, 1 NC across two stints with the UFC and is 2-2 in his second stint after opening with first-round victories over Michel Pereira and Gerald Meerschaert before being stopped by Bo Nickal in the first round in June. Daukaus should next face Vicente Luque, a bout previously scheduled for April before Daukaus rebooked against Nickal. Luque instead submitted Kelvin Gastelum in the first round before losing a gruelling fight to Tresean Gore on the undercard of UFC 330 in August, leaving him 17-9 with the UFC since 2015 and having lost three of his last four.
Timmy Cuamba looked comfortable as he took two rounds to secure a nasty submission finish against Louis Jourdain in the Canadian's promotional debut. Jourdain should next fight Malcolm Wellmaker, who was once 2-0 with two bonuses before dropping three straight and being finished earlier this month. Mandel Nallo secured his first win with the UFC as he took two rounds to batter and stop fan favourite Nate Landwehr to open the main card. Landwehr is now 5-7 with the UFC since being signed in 2020.
