EXETER — England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will have a scan on a hamstring injury suffered in Exeter Chiefs' 34-28 Premiership win over Newcastle at Sandy Park, the club have confirmed. The 23-year-old came off 15 minutes into the second half of the victory, which was Exeter's first of the season.

Feyi-Waboso has started all three of the Chiefs' Prem matches this season and scored two tries at Bath last week. Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter said the winger initially played on after first reporting discomfort. "It feels like he's overloaded his hamstring a little bit," Baxter told BBC Sport. "I don't think it's catastrophic, I don't think it's been a proper twang. He carried on after he first reported it, had another kick chase, came up with the ball at full speed, chased back but he just doesn't feel right. So I expect that'll get scanned and then we'll assess it earlier in the week. I would say it's more of a concern than a long-term worry."

The injury comes at a key time with England set to host Australia, Japan and New Zealand in November in the second half of the Nations Championship. Feyi-Waboso started all three of England's Nations Championship games over the summer and crossed for tries against Fiji and Argentina.

He missed this year's Six Nations after hurting his hamstring in January and missed the second half of the 2024-25 season with a shoulder injury. Exeter will assess the extent of the latest issue early in the week, with the scan to determine his availability for the coming Prem fixtures and England's autumn programme. The result follows Exeter Chiefs' fight back to beat Newcastle 34-28 at Sandy Park, which lifted the Chiefs off the foot of the table.
