PIRAEUS — Olympiacos forward Tyson Ward said the club's fifth consecutive Stoiximan Super Cup title provides a timely boost ahead of a demanding EuroLeague double-week. The Piraeus side lifted the trophy after playing two games in two days and now turns to road matchups against Zalgiris and Virtus Bologna, both away from home.
“We played two games in two days, we have to forget it. Every title we win in the season is important, it is a good feeling for the players and the coaching staff,” Ward said. “It gives us a sense of what we will face during the season, it is a good boost ahead of the double week. We have to be ready for the two games coming.”
Ward also addressed the condensed early-season schedule and limited practice time. “The season is long, but at the same time we had our vacations and we come ready, I think we handle it well,” he said. “And even with the limited number of practices we will try to improve.”
The Super Cup triumph sets the tone as Olympiacos enters the EuroLeague double-week with back-to-back road tests. The title follows Olympiacos' fifth straight Super Cup triumph, giving Ward and the roster early momentum before facing Zalgiris and Virtus Bologna.
