LAS VEGAS — Undefeated bantamweight Farid Basharat has been removed from the UFC roster despite a perfect 7-0 run inside the octagon after the promotion opted not to offer him a new deal. The 29-year-old, who sits inside the top 10 at 135 pounds, completed his existing contract with a victory over John Garza in July to extend his overall winning streak to 20 and his professional record to 16-0.

Having fought out his deal, Basharat is now free to compete for any other promotion, although the UFC could potentially re-sign him at some point in the future. He earned his contract on Dana White's Contender Series in 2022 and has since gone seven victories from seven bouts in the organisation, establishing himself as one of the division's most consistent performers.

During that unbeaten stretch Basharat secured notable wins over Jean Matsumoto, Chris Gutierrez and Taylor Lapilus, a run that carried him into the official top 10 at bantamweight. His departure comes without a defeat on his record and immediately after extending his streak to 20.

The move mirrors the outcome for his older brother Javid Basharat, who was also let go by the UFC off the back of a victory before joining the PFL. It follows Ismael Bonfim released by UFC following weight miss and defeat as the latest change to the promotion's bantamweight ranks, with Farid now entering free agency as an undefeated top-10 talent.
